Le panneau d’arrêt interdit à failli lui aussi être lessivé, du coup !

13 May 2024 9:11am

@Yves: Le panneau stationnement "personnes à mobilité réduite" a un certain handicap également, peut-être un essorage un peu violent :-) Merci Yves.

Splendid tones and reflections in this welcomed series! I wonder if they provide WiFi. :-)

A great scene.

Jason Kravitz from Brussels, Belgium

The man's reflection seems to me almost like his guardian angel or some detached spirit moving just behind him. I think another version of this photo cropped tighter to the window and two people would work well also.

13 May 2024 7:05pm

@Jason Kravitz: Cropping the photo to focus on the man and his reflection in the window would make another very interesting photo, but would go beyond the subject of my series, which is city laundries. (and then it would be a big cropping, technically not very qualitative). Thanks Jason.

Blikvanger from B, Belgium

That's what I was thinking too. It's almost like you could not decide and that you thought I put all in one picture :-). Nevertheless a nice photo, I like the N&B tones.

13 May 2024 7:13pm

@Blikvanger: Cropping this photo would change the meaning of the composition. For me, this series, entitled “Laundries”, has to show the store and what's going on inside, and if chance is right, what's going on outside.
As you may have noticed, this laundromat has already been shown (here) with a much tighter framing (square) and will be shown again (also square), so I wanted to widen the field of view to the whole building on the left, which brought in more details, such as the leaning parking sign.
Thank you very much for your opinion Blik, I appreciate the opinions, visions and remarks of other photographers.
Have a nice day.

Benkirane Thami from Fès, Morocco

J'apprécie le passage intérieur - extérieur et le reflet du passant !

This is a wonderful, timeless scene. I like seeing the woman sitting inside and the reflection of the man in the window as he walks by. Wonderful sepia tone. I really like the name Lavomatique! It sounds so much better to me than Laundromat!

Blikvanger from B, Belgium

Thanks for the explanation. It is certainly a very nice series you show. I have always been fascinated by laundries. The boredom on the faces of the people waiting in that space and the space itself.

Roger Dekert from VAUREAL, France

Je me mets à la place des gens qui vivent au dessus, ça doit bien secouer quand ces grosses machines essorent...
Ca vibre tellement que le poteau a commencer à pencher.
A moins que ce ne soit un gars qui soit venu laver un camion de couettes !
